✺ The Sourdough Workshop ✺

Everything I wish I'd had when I started sourdough, in one place. With ongoing support when you get stuck.

Part workshop, part membership. You get my full step-by-step method on video, my starter and the tools to bake with shipped to your door, calculators that do the math for you, and a community where I'm in the chat answering questions.

Then, once your box has arrived and you've had time to practice and get your hands in the dough, we get together for a scheduled live Q&A.

One payment. No monthly fee. And I'm going to keep adding to it.

Enrollment opens Monday, October 26th. Limited spots, because every starter ships fresh. Doors close when all spots are filled or Monday, November 2nd.

Sourdough loaf

You're following the directions. You're just not always sure what you're looking at.

If you've ever stood over a bowl of dough wondering "is my starter ready? is this too sticky? why did it come out dense?" this was made for you.

The goal isn't to make one good loaf. It's to know how to make the next one.

Everything that's included in your membership.

Whether you're a brand new beginner with no equipment who doesn't even know what a sourdough starter is, someone who has dabbled and is ready to try again, or someone who just wants to improve and perfect your process, this membership is for you.

In your mailbox

My own sourdough starter, shipped to you active and ready to bake with after a couple of feedings. There's a video that walks you through exactly what to do the minute you pull it out of the mail.

In the same box: a banneton proofing basket with a linen liner and a plastic bench scraper.

The workshop

My whole process on video, start to finish. It's the same method I use whether I'm making one loaf or a hundred.

The videos are broken up by section, so you can jump straight to the step you're on or the spot where you're stuck without scrubbing through one long video.

I don't just show you what perfectly proofed dough looks like. I also break down working with dough that's underproofed and dough that's overproofed. Then we bake both of those up next to the well-proofed loaf and compare all three, so you know exactly what to look for.

You also get the full written guide and my sweet and savory inclusion recipes for when you're ready to play. There are over 17 recipes and inclusion ideas ready for you, and I'll add more as I develop them.

Tools that do the math for you

  • Starter ratio calculator. Tell it how much starter you need and it tells you what to feed.
  • Bake schedule builder. Tell it when you want bread on the table and it works backwards.
  • Ingredient scaler. Want ten jalapeño cheddar loaves? Pick the recipe, enter how many, done.

*More tools are in the works and will be added after enrollment.

Charts and printables

  • Bake schedule examples. Ready-made schedules to follow, so sourdough works around your day and not the other way around.
  • Bulk fermentation chart. A quick reference to help you spot what bulk fermentation looks like and know when it's time to end it.
  • Starter feeding ratio chart. See how feeding at different ratios works, so you have a good idea of when your starter will be ready.
  • The Baker's Log. More on this one below.

These are easy printables to keep on hand for a quick peek while you're actually in the kitchen. Print them, stick them on the fridge, get flour on them.

A troubleshooting library

Short videos with tips, tricks and fixes for the things that go wrong. I add to it as questions come in, so it keeps growing.

Bulk baking tutorial

Once you've got a loaf or two under your belt, there's a full video tutorial on making sourdough in bulk, up to ten loaves at a time, plus how to scale your own recipes.

The Baker's Log

If there's one thing in here I'm proudest of, it's this. The Baker's Log is the tool so many beginners need and don't have.

It's a simple printable you fill in as you work through your loaf. You jot down what you did and what you saw at each step: your starter, your dough, your timing, how it baked.

When a loaf turns out perfectly, you'll know exactly why. You know that feeling when you nail a loaf and think, "wait, how did I do that?" Now you'll know. It's all written down, so you can do the exact same thing again and keep getting great bread. Honestly, that might be the most important part.

And when a loaf doesn't turn out, you're not guessing anymore. You have the whole bake written down in front of you, and that makes it so much easier to pinpoint where things went sideways. I'll teach you how to read your own log and troubleshoot your own bread.

And if you're still stuck, share your log and a photo of your loaf in the community. With your notes in hand, I can pinpoint what happened too. It doesn't matter if it's your first loaf or your tenth.

For a lot of bakers, this is the turning point. It's what finally takes the frustration out of sourdough.

Me, in the chat

This is the part I care about most. I pop into the community regularly to answer students' questions, and I have an admin in there to help you find what you need.

But it's not just me and my admin. This is a community of people who love sourdough and are eager to learn. It's your chance to build friendships with other bakers, swap ideas, and have people cheering you on through a frustrating bake.

For my founding members. This is just the beginning.

Everything above is ready for you the day you join. But I'm building this community around the people learning in it, and I'm not done.

Within the first month after launch, I'm adding videos and recipes for focaccia, sandwich loaves, and my sourdough English muffin process for the home baker, with fun flavor ideas to follow. The troubleshooting library will keep growing. So will the recipes. Any time I land on a new bread, focaccia or sandwich dough recipe I love, it goes in here.

You pay once. You keep access to all of it, including what I add later.

If you join now, you're one of my founding members. You're the OGs, and I'm so excited to build this with you.

My story

My first sourdough starter ended up in the trash.

I started in October 2023 as a stay-at-home mom looking for a hobby. I killed my first starter, got a new one from a friend, and pieced the rest together from a YouTube video, Reddit and blogs.

It took me more than 50 loaves before it really clicked. People tell me sourdough comes naturally to me. It didn't.

What changed everything was getting consistent. Same process every time, whether I'm baking one loaf or a hundred.

I looked for something like this when I started and couldn't find it. So I made it.

A couple of things to know.

This isn't a micro bakery course. I'm not covering how to run a bakery or how I make 50+ loaves. This is about getting you baking confidently at home.

This isn't a fresh milled flour course. We won't be working with 100% fresh milled flours. That's a more experienced level of baking. Here, you'll get very comfortable with the process using a typical 100% hydration sourdough starter fed with all-purpose or bread flour.

The best part?

Your loaf becomes part of how you learn, and you get to do it alongside other people who are learning too.

Already have a starter and your tools?

If you've already started your sourdough journey and you have your own starter, banneton and bench scraper, you can join for $87. Same workshop, same community, same everything. I just won't ship you a box.

Join for $87, no box

Enrollment opens Monday, October 26.

Spots are limited, and here's why: every member gets a fresh starter from my kitchen, and I have to get those in the mail right away so they arrive healthy. I can only pack and ship so many at once. Doors close as soon as those spots fill, or on Monday, November 2nd, whichever comes first.

Everything you need to know before joining.

Can I really learn sourdough if I’ve never baked bread before?

Yes! We’re starting at the beginning. You don’t need any previous bread-baking or sourdough experience. I’ll walk you through the whole process, beginning with the starter and ending with your finished loaf.

What if I’ve tried sourdough before and couldn’t keep my starter alive?

You’re definitely not alone. I threw my first starter away because I couldn’t figure it out either.

We’ll go over how to feed, maintain, and store your starter, along with what to look for so you know when it’s active and ready to use.

Can’t I just learn all of this for free on YouTube or Google?

Absolutely. That’s pretty much how I learned!

But it also meant a LOT of Googling, trial and error, and trying to piece together different methods and conflicting answers every time I had a question. I had more time than I ever had while I was home with my son trying to fix his gut so I was on a mission. It became my hyper fixation. So this is everything I have managed to learn in 3 years.

That’s why I created Sourdough for Beginners differently.

Instead of pulling one recipe from here, starter advice from there, and troubleshooting help from somewhere else, you’ll have one foundational process to follow and one place to come back to for the videos, written resources, tools, troubleshooting help, community, and live Q&A.

You can absolutely learn sourdough on your own. I just want to make the process a whole lot easier than it was for me.

Do I need my own sourdough starter?

Nope! If you need one, I’ll give you a code on your confirmation page to order one of my established sourdough starters for free.

What if I have questions once I start baking on my own?

That’s completely normal! You’ll have our private Circle community where you can ask questions, share your loaves, and learn alongside other bakers.

You’ll also have troubleshooting resources to come back to, plus a live Q&A after you’ve had some time to bake.

You’ll have somewhere to turn as questions come up along the way.

What kind of sourdough will we be working with?

Sourdough for Beginners is intentionally focused on giving you a really strong foundation first.

We’ll be working with a 100% hydration sourdough starter fed with unbleached all-purpose flour and following the foundational method I use in my own kitchen.

You’ll learn plenty that you can carry with you as you explore other kinds of sourdough later, but we won’t be troubleshooting specialized methods like pasta madre, sweet stiff starters, fresh-milled flour, or 100% whole-wheat loaves inside this beginner experience.

How much time do I need to make sourdough?

Sourdough does take time, but most of it isn’t hands-on. I’ll show you how the process works from start to finish so you know which parts need your attention and which parts are simply waiting on your dough.

Do I need special equipment?

[CONFIRM WITH JESSICA: minimum equipment needed]

How long will I have access? Is there a monthly membership fee?

Your $97 is a one-time payment. Once you join Sourdough for Beginners, you’re a member for good! There’s no monthly fee or recurring subscription to stay inside our private Circle community.

You’ll have lifetime access to the workshop and resources, plus any new free recipes and resources I add for members over time.

If Sourdough for Beginners or the Circle community is ever discontinued or no longer available, you’ll be given plenty of notice ahead of time so you can access the materials before anything changes.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once and you keep access to the workshop, the community and everything I add to it later. Think of it as a membership without the monthly fee.

How long do I have access?

For as long as the workshop is running, with no extra payments. I have no plans to close it, and I’m just getting started. If the day ever comes that I retire or shut the website down, I’ll give you plenty of notice and make sure you can save the workshop materials, or I’ll email them to you, so you still have what you paid for. The only thing that would end is the community chat and ongoing support.

I already have a starter and a banneton. Do I have to pay for the box?

No. If you already have your own starter, banneton and bench scraper, choose the $87 option at checkout and skip the box.

What happens after I finish the videos?

You stay. I’m in the chat answering questions, the troubleshooting library keeps growing, and new recipes are on the way, starting with focaccia, sandwich loaves and English muffins in the first month.

What if my bread still doesn’t turn out?

Fill in your Baker’s Log while you bake and send it to me with a photo of your loaf. I’ll help you figure out what happened, and I’ll show you how to read the log yourself so you can troubleshoot the next one on your own.

Will this teach me how to start a micro bakery?

No. This workshop is about baking great sourdough at home. There is a bulk baking tutorial for making up to ten loaves at a time, but running a bakery isn’t covered here.
